Data centers · Behavioral Logistics™

Thousands of travelers can arrive before the first server does.

LSPM consults with data center developers and with the county and its cities on the workforce side of a project. We apply the same behavioral logistics we have used for decades to keep our own traveling workforces on the job and feeling at home. The aim is amity, with revenue for both sides.

What a plan does

Retention holds the schedule

People rarely quit the job. They quit the hours around it. A workforce that feels at home tends to stay, and a crew that stays holds the schedule. On a data center, a schedule that holds can mean an early finish for the developer, and a community that profits from the project instead of bracing for it.

The plan belongs inside site selection, beside power and water, before the land is optioned.

Without a plan

What it can look like

From one rural data center project, in its first year of construction:

64 against 9
Crashes on the highway serving the site, January to mid-September, against the whole year before
$2,500
Monthly rent on homes that had rented for $600 to $700, with some families evicted to make room for workers
A closed playground
At an elementary school less than a mile from the site

None of that is the data center's fault. It comes from the absence of a plan for the people.

What we deliver

A Workforce Assimilation Plan

Based on the common sense science of behavioral logistics, and written for the developer and for the county and its cities alike: where the workforce lives, how it is managed, how it moves, how local businesses take part, and what gets measured and reported each month.

  1. A collaborative agreement
  2. Assimilation
  3. Amity
  4. Revenue on Main Street

That's the common sense science of behavioral logistics, a discipline that has amity and revenue at its core.

Planning a data center, or hosting one?

We're glad to compare notes anytime, with developers and with the county and its cities.
